I miss when the internet felt like somewhere you went.
Not one giant feed. Not a handful of apps trying to keep you scrolling forever. Places.
Little forums. IRC channels. BBSes. Weird personal websites. Myspace pages held together with questionable HTML and a song that started playing before you could find the stop button.
You'd find a corner of the internet through a friend, a link, or pure accident. Maybe twenty people hung out there. Maybe two hundred. Either way, after a while, you started recognizing names.
It felt small.
I miss that.
I miss when posting online wasn't automatically "content." When having something to say didn't mean building a brand. When people made things because making things on the internet was fun.
So I made Peblet.
Peblet is my little attempt at making the internet feel small again.
There are no algorithms choosing what deserves your attention. No ads following you around. No brands, agencies, promotional accounts, or systems designed to turn everyone into a creator chasing an audience.
You show up. You talk to people. You post things. You move on.
And nothing lasts forever.
The name comes from a pebble skipping across water. You throw something out into the world, it makes a few ripples, and eventually the pond becomes still again.
That's how Peblet works.
Posts live for 7 days.
Daily rooms last 24 hours.
Direct messages last 30 days.
Then they're gone.
You also can't delete something early after you post it. Once the pebble leaves your hand, you can't reach out and grab it again. So post like your words matter, even if they aren't permanent.
Peblet isn't trying to become the next big social network.
I'd actually prefer if it didn't.
I just want to make a nice little place on the internet.
Something temporary. Something human. Something a little weird.
A tiny internet again.
